Happening this month

Calling All DIVAS!

We are supporting the local MOMS Club walking team and we are donating 10% of all DIVA night profit to the March of Dimes.  We know several DIVA friends who have been affected by premature birth.  One just had her baby 7 weeks early (he’s doing great!) and another is the local spokes family for this event!

We would love to see you at DIVA night April 3rd or 15th to contribute to the March of Dimes mission to beat the epidemic of premature birth, the biggest threat to infant health in America!  Or, next time you are in, donate $1 at the cash register and get your card up on the window.  Let’s help find the cure for the tiny babies who need just a little longer to grow!

Mom is GREAT

Show her just how great she is with a customized gift.  Glass mother’s bracelets could be just the gift for you to give.  Or, think of a personalized plate or platter.  The possibilities are endless.  All Mother’s Day gifts (they should obviously be for Mom!) are discounted 15%  the 21st through the 25th.  Come do something really special for Mom, be ahead of the curve and do it EARLY!

Classes

Jake & Elwood

Introducing: Jake & Elwood, our friends the garden gnomes.  They are great travelers, not unlike their distant cousin from the popular travel company commercial.  Come to the studio in April and you can add them to your garden.  These friends are not fired in the kiln, they are created with an acrylic dry-brush technique.  So, pull out your best painting clothes and join us (acrylic doesn’t wash out like our glaze does).  You’ll even learn the secret of rapid-rusting.  Oh yes, you’ll be able to take them home with you the same day!  more info

Technique of the Month

If we haven’t already told you the secret of getting fine detail without being a fabulous artist…here it is!  Clay carbon paper can be your friend. Print out any design, transfer it to your pottery piece and then paint as if it is a coloring book!  This technique can be used for lettering, logos, animals, cartoon characters…just about anything!

Please note that this technique only works on DRY bisque or DRY glaze coating.  So, if you want a base color, plan plenty of time to wait for drying or complete your project in two trips!   Check out these customer and employee examples of this technique…

Meet the Studio Coordinator

Morgan P. is our Studio Coordinator.  She greets everyone with a smile and keeps the studio running efficiently (she even keeps Katharine and Emily in line!). Morgan is a certified art teach and accomplished artist.  Someday she hopes that we will lose her to some lucky school and schoolchildren but we are enjoying her very much until then!

You can see many examples of her artwork throughout the store…she specializes in details, details, details!  We can’t decide if we like her dog treat jar or her “what I want to be when I grow up” platter better.  If you haven’t met Morgan in person, we know you will love her when you do!
