Hola!  Back from a wedding vacation in Cancun

Please excuse the lateness of the newsletter—my excuse is going to Matt’s brother’s wedding in Cancun!  My family and I enjoyed a great vacation in Mexico as well.  Traveling internationally with 3 kids was challenging but we survived!  The wedding was FABULOUS and beautiful at the beach.  We also had a good time walking around the open markets in downtown Cancun, but we didn’t see any crafts there as nice as some that our customers are making. We’re glad to be back!

If you are a Home Schooling Family…

or, even if you know one, we’ve a great art curriculum for you.  We start out the academic year with 6 artistic projects for the kitchen.  We have classes available for two age groups and can’t wait for you to register.  There are 6 separate projects for each age group and the curriculum was developed in conjunction with the Indiana State Art Standards.  Registration deadline is August 30th.  For more information stop by the store or call and we’ll pop it in the mail to you!

What’s up with HOT glass?

Our fused glass is HOT, HOT, HOT…and not just in the kiln!  Some of our customers have been branching out from jewelry and frames to design their own home décor items.  We’ve seen welcome signs, wind chimes, large bowls, window hangings, custom bathroom tiles and even a drop-ring vase (seen at left).  Come explore the glorious world of glass, ask to look at our idea books or come in with an idea and we’ll help you figure out how to make it.  Haven’t taken glass safety and training yet?  Look for our schedule of project and glass classes on the calendar.  gallery

Technique of the Month

Look at the trivet in the home schooling article….isn’t the background nifty?  This is the bubble painting technique…if you’ve ever had fun blowing bubbles in, say, milk or soda, you’ll LOVE playing with this technique.  Look for a kid-geared class coming up in September!
